Hanging Rock Blue Mountains
This rock is amazing. It stands out from the cliff at a place called the Baltzer Lookout near Blackheath. It is reached on foot along a management track along the Burramoko Ridge. It is a huge shard of Sandstone and seems to hang in the air. The challenging nature of the rock is a magnet to rock climbers from all over the world. Recently is was quite accessible to the public via an open road but the inherent dangers caused the access to be limited to professional climbers. It appears to have been created in the 1930’s and was the result of a partial rock fall. It is spellbinding to see rock climbers hanging from the point down into the valley 1000 feet below. Not for the faint hearted!.
