Tour Overview

This is a small tour of the magnificent Blue Mountains including the award winning, Featherdale Wildlife Park, home to only Australian Native animals. We visit remote lookouts with stunning views, including Lincolns Rock at Kings Tableland where you will find some old aboriginal spear sharpening grooves. Featherdale is one of the afternoon activities.

In the morning drive up to the top of the mountains where we go to Scenic World for all Three rides on the Cable Cars/Scenic Railway (Included with this Blue Mountains). Tour Having a morning visit avoids the crowds and we usually look to be there around

After we leave Scenic World we stop at the much photographed Thee Sisters at Echo Point. We are there for some 20 to 30 minutes. We have a lunch break at  in Katoomba where you  have an abundance of cafes and food outlets, followed by a stroll around the shops.

There are more lookouts after lunch which may include some short walks after lunch or more sightseeing.

Later in the afternoon we return down the Blue Mountains stopping at Featherdale Wildlife Park to experience many Australia Native Animals in a 1 hour stop. Then we drive to Sydney Olympic Park village home of the Sydney 2000 Olympics for a brief tour of this unique development  before we join a River Ferry Cruise Ferry at Olympic Park Wharf for a leisurely river cruise back to Circular Quay, in the heart of the city, arriving Note the Olympic Village drive through is dependent on available time before going to the Wharf)

Benefits of a Small Group Tour

On our Blue Mountains Day Tour there will be around 10 occasions when you will be getting on the bus and the same 10 occasions for getting off. Each of these takes a few minutes. If we allow 2 minutes getting on and 2 minutes getting off, that is a total of 40 minutes per day. If you are on a larger bus, this activity is more like 5 mins and for the very large coaches it can be 8 to 10 minutes. This could be 8 or 12 times at up to 10 minutes each time totalling something like 1 ½ to 2 hours or more. It is a large time user that eats into your day

Having Lunch can also be time expensive and this is where more time savings can be made. We pre order our lunch option so it is ready when we arrive. Saves time,  is very time effective, and again, allowing more sightseeing.

There are many benefits of a small bus tour

  • Small group is easier to manage and more personal
  • Easy to disembark and re
  • board the Mini Bus in a limited time.
  • This means you can experience a lot more and not feel hounded all day.
  • You have better access to more inaccessible remote locations.
  • Time to chat with your fellow travellers
  • By pre ordering the optional lunch is a great time saver. Better for “seeing more and doing more”

Tour Itinerary

Tour + Featherdale + Ferry + 3 Rides

The BMF Tour and BMFR tours are very similar. They both go to Featherdale Wildlife Park and do the Ferry Cruise back to the city.

The difference is that the BMFR includes the 3 Scenic World Rides in the late morning whereas the BMF Tour does some more Sightseeing for that 1 hour

Both tours leave the city around 8 am and cross the Harbour Bridge travelling to the Blue Mountains. On the way we stop at Glenbrook for morning tea and a visit to the Blue Mountains Visitor centre which has a large range of souvenirs, post cards and books on the Mountains from the early history to the present day.

After a short break we continue up the mountains passing through some smaller villages to our first lookout at Kings Tableland and a remote cliff top lookout, Lincoln’s Rock. There is a lot of Geological evidence at this site of the history of the birth of the Blue Mountains dating back millions of years.

Next this Blue Mountains Tour travels to Echo Point around 11.00am for around 30 minutes before we take those on the Scenic World Rides around to the Skyway Cable Car which traverses the Valley above Katoomba Falls to Scenic World where the Scenic Railway and The Cable Way are located. All 3 rides take about an hour in total. Those not doing the rides will do more sightseeing and lookouts.

Around noon we all catch up again and go to the main street of Katoomba where there are many small food outlets in one small area to minimize the walking and find an easy lunch followed by an easy stroll around the shops. Duration is about 45 minutes to one hour.

After Lunch there is more sightseeing  until we leave the top of the Blue Mountains at around 2 pm and drive back towards Sydney where our next stop is Featherdale wildlife Park, the best small Australian  Native animal enclosures which is easy to walk around and check out all the animals you have wanted to see with Koalas, Kangaroos Tasmanian Devils and Wombats being the popular.

We leave here at around 4.15 pm and go Olympic Park, home of the 2000 Olympics. Time permitting, we will have a short tour through the village before arriving at the Olympic Park Wharf to Board a 5.10 pm Rivercat Ferry for a cruise back to the city arriving Circular Quay at 5.45 pm where your Tour concludes.

Visit Featherdale Wildlife Park this tour

Featherdale is the best small Wildlife Park in Australia and home for Australian Native Animals and amazing colourful bird life from all over the Australian Continent.

All the animals are native to the Australian bush and are housed in an excellent wild life park where they are well looked after. We have an afternoon visit for around an hour’s duration where you will have an “up close and personal” experience with the “inhabitants.”

Our visit is for around one hour or so, long enough to experience the wombats, wallabies, koalas dingoes Tasmanian devils, quolls, bandicoots emus and kangaroos and numerous other residents as you wander around the park. There is an exhibition of the most dangerous snakes in the enclosure plus  hundreds of birds
